Creating a Collage Painting with Simple Techniques with Nia Alexander Campbell at Arts on Main2023-02-04T10:00:00Join Nia Alexander Campbell for a mixed media collage painting class at Arts on Main! Students will combine paper collage, paper-marbling, watercolor, and acrylic paints to create their collage painting. Nia will provide paper marbling supplies. They will learn how to mix colors and apply color schemes for both visual appeal and meaning. They will first apply basic mixing skills to paint a color wheel painting and value scales. Then, they will create a monochromatic painting, an analogous landscape, and a Pop Art painting with a complementary color scheme. Time permitting, they will create a landscape in the Impressionist style, using dots and dabs of color and complimentary colors for shadows. All materials will be provided by the instructor.

Join Emily Hein, Assistant Director for Advisory Services, as she discusses how VIMS science-based recommendations are used by regulators to inform decisions on projects ranging from backyard erosion on tidal creeks, to the Hampton Roads Bridge Tunnel Expansion Project, to oil spill response.
We are excited to offer this lecture in-person in McHugh Auditorium on VIMS' Gloucester Point Campus! This lecture will also be available as a live-streamed webinar.
