GLOUCESTER

April 14-20, 2024 is Animal Control Officer Appreciation Week!

Gloucester County joins other localities throughout the Commonwealth in celebrating how our Animal Control officers dedicate their lives to the health and safety of at-risk and helpless animals. Gloucester’s Animal Control officers work tirelessly to rescue and protect animals from injury, disease, abuse, starvation and more.

This week, and each week, we sincerely appreciate what they do for our community! Be sure to follow our Facebook page throughout the week as we highlight stories on how our Animal Control Department works to make a positive impact on the County.

Household Harmful Waste Collection Scheduled for Saturday, April 20

Household harmful waste items should be disposed of during one of the County’s two free Household Harmful Waste disposal events. The Household Harmful Waste collection is usually held on the third Saturday in April and October, the collection is usually held on the third Saturday at the Hayes Convenience Center. Spring 2024 Collection is Saturday, April 20th, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Other times of the year, harmful waste can be disposed of, for a fee, by Veolia North America. Contact them at 804-233-6980, Customer Service Department. They can pick up the materials from you and will provide you with documentation that your material was  properly transported and disposed of.

Residents from counties other than Gloucester County, businesses from outside Gloucester County who are working in Gloucester County (including subcontractors from outside Gloucester County even if they are working for contractors located within Gloucester County), and Gloucester County businesses disposing of waste and trash generated outside Gloucester County must take the waste and trash to the main landfill at the Middle Peninsula Landfill and Recycling Center.
