Identifying Insects and Diseases

Disease diagnosis and control have been among the most challenging tasks that growers, landscapers, and homeowners have to face on a daily basis. This difficulty results from the great diversity of plants grown, the complexity of disease problems associated with individual plants, and a lack of access to research data. This publication is designed to assist you in the process of disease diagnosis and management recommendations. A list of diseases was compiled for individual plants based on the records at Virginia Tech's Plant Disease Clinic and at the Hampton Roads Agricultural Research and Extension Center over the past 6 years. Use of this list can help you determine what to look for in a given plant species.
