GLOUCESTER COUNTY OFFICIAL
VOTER REGISTRATION & ABSENTEE VOTING INFORMATION
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is to announce the upcoming Dual Party Primary Election to be held on Tuesday, June 11, 2013 at your normal polling locations from 6am – 7pm.  While Virginia election law stipulates that any qualified voter may vote in either political party's primary, no voter may vote in more than one political party's primary on the same Election Day.

  • We have Absentee Voting available now in the Office of the General Registrar; office hours are Monday thru Friday from 8:30am – 4:30pm.

  • In addition to regular office hours, the Office of the General Registrar will also be open Saturday, June 8, 2013 from 9am – 5pm for the last day of Absentee Voting!

  • The last day to get registered to vote or make changes to your name or address to be eligible to vote in this election is on Monday, May 20, 2013.

You must choose which Party Ballot you want to vote!

Why do I have to state a party preference to vote in this election? Under Virginia law, a dual primary consists of two separate elections conducted on the same day.  There are separate pollbooks, separate ballots and ballots boxes. Results for each primary are tallied separately.  Virginia law only allows you to vote in one of these two separate elections.  § 24.2-530
