Woodville Park is growing everyday with the help of the generous citizens of Gloucester County. Woodville Park is approximately 100 acres in size and is located in Hayes off of Bray’s Point Road. The park started with a gift to Gloucester County of 100 acres by the Lanciano Family.
This new nature park contains both wetlands and woodlands, athletic fields and reflective gardens, walking paths and hiking trails. The site plan is available online to see what else is in store for the future of the park. As of the Winter of 2014 we have completed three athletic fields, a sand volleyball/soccer court, picnic areas, community gardens, a memorial walk and two ponds. Final grading and; seeding will occur this spring on four additional athletic fields. The fields will be used by the Gloucester Youth Football League, Baystars, Gloucester Lacrosse and the Parks, Recreation and Tourism Department.
The construction of the park has been made possible by the generosity of individuals & businesses who have donated money and time and over $800,000 in grant funds. The park won the Best New Park Award in 2013 from the Virginia Recreation and Park Society. Volunteers are always needed. Upcoming work will include field preparation, garden maintenance, trail clearing & more plantings. If you would like to help please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org. Memorial bricks & benches are also available for purchase to remember your loved ones.
